Over the past decade Derrin has solidified his reputation as a singer, acoustic guitar player and songwriter of very high order. He is one of the busiest artists on the acoustic scene at the moment in many parts of the world, but to think of Derrin as just another troubadour or journeyman would not paint an accurate picture.
Derrin has forged a sound comprising of incredible guitar skills, soulful vocals and powerful songs and lyrics which has won him much praise and many fans. As testament to this Derrin is endorsed by Yamaha guitars and also has had the lyrics to his song "Shipwrecked" published in a text book for English literature by Cambridge University Press (see photos of the text book in the reviews section of the website for more details). Derrin over the years has also featured in session on the Bob Harris and Paul Jones show on BBC radio 2, Tros Musik Cafe in Holland and Triple J radio in Australia.
Derrin's latest offering is his 10th album entitled "Crazy World". For this album, Derrin has signed with one of the foremost acoustic labels in the world, USA label Candyrat Records. Candyrat Records has been home to some of the most astonishing musicians from around the world of the past 10 years and a fitting home for this new album.
Derrin's touring also career has no hint of slowing down. On top of extensive tours planned across the UK, Germany and Southern Europe, Derrin has just returned from an extensive tour of Australia and a successful tour of Russia including a Philharmonic hall sell out!!.
This is what Derrin says of the new album "Crazy World" himself: "I had built much of my career around my live solo show, but realised for some reason I had never recorded a primarily solo studio album. I wanted to rectify this. I spent vast amounts of time on the arrangements to make the album as interesting as possible. I was desperate for it not to be a boring solo album. It had to have a purpose and take people on a journey. Hopefully I have achieved that."
